Dr 'H' Patten - Dancing a Web of Stories - Decolonising Education for Peace in Afrca (DEPA) Project
DEPA project is funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) and UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) through the Global Challenges Research (GCRF) Fund.
Dr 'H' Patten is the Artistic Director and Principal Investigator for the 10th International Conference on Carnival and Masquerade Arts 2023.
The DEPA dance-for-camera project was a Pan-African and arts-based dance-theatre performance and a ‘dance-for-camera’ film. The film brought together elements from the multi-disciplinary art forms from 16 DEPA projects across 14 countries. It features dancers from The Sierra Leone National Dance Troupe and Noyam Contemporary African Dance Company. A supporting dance-for-camera manual and educational resources have been developed for Sierra Leone and other DEPA countries for both formal and informal sectors.
